Dr. Lori Smith
I have been serving patients through the practice of internal medicine for over 30 years, with 19 of those 30+ years in the Charlotte and High Point, NC areas. I received my MD degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1994 and completed my internal medicine residency at The Christ Hospital in 1997. I am board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) as well as a certified diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). My professional memberships include the American Medical Association (AMA), American College of Physicians (ACP), and the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). At my practice, our team follows the 4 pillars of clinical, evidence-based, obesity treatment - nutrition therapy, physical activity, behavioral modification, and medical interventions. Obesity is a chronic disease and at Beacon Internal and Obesity Medicine - BIOMe, our goal is to improve access to obesity treatment, as well as other chronic diseases. Our personalized care plans are tailored to our patients' needs. BIOMe is a value-driven practice model that prioritizes continuity of care, improving health outcomes, self-care management and monitoring, health education and disease prevention.
